There's a pretty good AAA discount on the fair to and from New Haven. But even more interesting is that if you lived in, say Windsor, CT, you could get into downtown Hartford for $4. You could come downtown, eat dinner, see a show, have a drink, and hop on a train at 11:50 p.m. and be back in Windsor before the clock strikes midnight.

Flying into Bradley (BDL) is the easiest way to get to Hartford - it's just 20 minutes north of the city. The Hartford Star Shuttle is a FREE, downtown circulator service. It operates in a continuous loop (about every 12 minutes) from 7:00 a.m. to 11:00 p.m. Monday - Friday and from 3:00 p.m. to 11:00 p.m. on Saturdays, with stops all over the place: CT Convention Center, the Riverfront, the Arts and Entertainment District, various restaurants, and downtown hotels.
